Helen Cordero remembered her grandfather telling her stories while she sat on his lap,thus the beginning of Storytellers as we know them today.

Since Helen started potting storytellers,people with names like Fragua,Chalan,Shendo,Toya,Arquero from places like Cochiti,Jemez,and Isleta have made storytellers and corn maidens that resemble children,people,animals,and all sorts of other things.
